“So, they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labour, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh. But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread” (Exodus 1:11-12)

The Israelites in Egypt were “exceedingly fruitful; they multiplied greatly, increased in numbers and became so numerous that the land was filled with them” (Exodus 1:7) and this made the Egyptians loathe them and load them with hardships. Yet God stood with them. Since the Lord is with us, nothing should break us; not trials, difficulties or persecutions. So, because of Jesus, we must work to keep the faith in God no matter what happens around us.

Hebrews 11 stirs an encouragement: “There are so many more—Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, the prophets. . . . Through acts of faith, they toppled kingdoms, made justice work, took the promises for themselves. They were protected from lions, fires, and sword thrusts, turned disadvantage to advantage, won battles, routed alien armies. Women received their loved ones back from the dead. There were those who, under torture, refused to give in and go free, preferring something better: resurrection. Others braved abuse and whips, and, yes, chains and dungeons…” Praise God!

So what do we think? “Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing… None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us." Nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable can get between us and God’s love because of Jesus!
