“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power... Therefore, put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand” (Ephesians 6:10,13)

Every believer’s faith can be termed the ‘great resistance’ over the world and sin. James did say: “Resist the devil…” (James 4:7). There are countless times we have failed and may have become wearied, but the Holy Spirit reminds us and assures us that it is possible “to stand your ground, and… to stand.” Though Ephesians 6:11 plainly says: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” yet the Holy Spirit speaks ahead of a victory assured: “…After you have done everything, to stand.”

So, we must “Be strong IN THE LORD and IN HIS MIGHTY POWER.” Our victory is possible daily through the victorious Christ who Himself said: “I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!” (John 16:33). Our Lord Jesus resisted the devil and sin to the point of shedding His own blood, and He won (Hebrews 12:4)! We become strong in Him when we put on ALL the armour of God (Ephesians 6:14-18). So, be encouraged: “Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. ‘Make level paths for your feet,’ so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed” (Hebrews 12:12-13). Let’s get up and dress up in Him, and resist and stand!
