“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it” (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)
Yes! “The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.” Our Father is always working so that we’ll be like Jesus. Jesus said: “Every day My Father is at work, and I will be, too!” This should encourage us to keep walking with the Lord, no matter what we face daily or the slip-ups we’ve had in life. Paul starts the verse by saying: “May God HIMSELF, the God of peace….” God is capable of sanctifying us Himself for He knows us deeply, more than we know ourselves. He is also the God of peace, meaning this ultimate work He does is to fully reconcile us to Himself, spirit, soul and body. He’s interested in all of it. He’s doing His work of peace in our lives, that we’ll become free from all conflicts. Hallelujah! Philippians 2:13 says likewise: “God will continually revitalize you, implanting within you the passion to do what pleases Him.” So, let’s continually learn to yield to His good work in our lives for “We are being transfigured into His very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Such is the Lord’s work of peace in us! “Now, may the Lord himself, the Lord of peace, pour into you His peace in every circumstance and in every possible way. The Lord’s tangible presence be with you all” (2 Thessalonians 3:16). Amen.
