“In His hand are the deep places of the earth; the heights of the hills are His also” (Psalm 95:4)

Let’s ponder on this: the deep places are in His hand. How shallow to God are the deep places or things we call profound! Our Lord God declared: “Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?” (Isaiah 40:12). God did! Truly, the secret things belong to the Lord (Deuteronomy 29:29), and God chooses to reveal them to us. David sang: “Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence Him. With them alone He shares the secrets of His promises” (Psalm 25:14) Our part is reverence for Him for God delights to reveal things called deep in lives or situations to His friends.

Daniel, who faced a death threat concerning the king of Babylon’s uninterpreted dream, spoke these words when God revealed the dream to him (Daniel 2:20-23): “Blessed be the name of God, forever and ever. He knows all, does all: He changes the seasons and guides history, He raises up kings and also brings them down, He provides both intelligence and discernment, He opens up the depths, tells secrets, sees in the dark—light spills out of Him! God of all my ancestors, all thanks! all praise! You made me wise and strong. And now you’ve shown us what we asked for. You’ve solved the king’s mystery.” There’s nothing deep for the Lord.
