“Let the godly sing for joy to the Lord; it is fitting for the pure to praise Him. Praise the Lord with melodies on the lyre; make music for him on the ten-stringed harp. Sing a new song of praise to Him; play skillfully on the harp, and sing with joy” (Psalm 33:1-3)

How beautiful is a fitted kitchen with its cabinets and shelves harmoniously and skilfully patterned? How smart is a modest apparel fitted upon a man? When the righteous praise the Lord, it is fitting, lovely and appropriate. It’s a beautiful sight before the Lord with melodies made just for Him on every instrument we’ve got, new songs sung just to Him, joy radiating from our hearts and our best skills deployed for Him! Genesis 8 gives a vivid image of how this can look. “Noah built an altar to the LORD, and there he sacrificed as burnt offerings the animals and birds that had been approved for that purpose.” First of all, Noah built an altar and offered burnt offerings. Praises must be deliberate, built and set for the Lord. Hebrews 13:15 says: “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.” What Jesus did on the cross, should inspire praises to God always. Then, Noah offered animals approved for that purpose. That’s the fitting part, custom-made for God! How did God see all these? “And the LORD was pleased with the aroma of the sacrifice and said to Himself… I will never again curse the ground… I will never again destroy all living things… As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.”
