“Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14)

Have you ever wished you were born in another time or generation? We have absolutely no need to be. We’ve been born at the right time. This is absolutely true when we realise that God alone ordains time and He has a purpose for each of us. “The word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:4-5). This is God’s heart. Before human conception, Jeremiah was already conceived for the times he will be in. God doesn’t make mistakes, He doesn't make random babies. Galatians 4:4-5 speaks about the timeliness of Jesus: “But when the set time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.” It was the right time. Jesus also testified to this when he was brought before Pilate: “’You are a king, then!’ said Pilate. Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me’” (John 18:37).

You may even have been born ‘unwanted’, but God knows you and He has a need of you. Esther might have thought it was about pageantry or royalty, but she would realise, like Joseph, it was to the “the saving of many lives” (Genesis 50:20).
