Silent At This Time?

“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14)

The Spirit of God makes us realize that an understanding of the times of our lives and situations around us, will make us not to be silent. These are times God doesn’t expect silence. Silence itself may sometimes be a refusal to do anything. In Luke 14, Jesus went to eat dinner in the home of a leader of the Pharisees. "There was a man there whose arms and legs were swollen." Then Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in religious law: “Is it permitted in the law to heal people on the Sabbath day or not?” Intriguingly, the Word of God says: “But they remained silent.” They had no interest. Another version says: “They refused to answer.” They refused to acknowledge the times before them, even the Lordship of Jesus. Jesus, however, knew He came for such a time. He had said, after reading the scrolls of Isaiah: “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!” (Luke 4:21). He healed the man.

Esther got the insight and said to Mordecai: “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so, I will go to the king, which is against the law…” (Esther 4:16). As we arise where God calls, may He bring His relief and deliverance how He ordains. Amen.
