“But God is my King from long ago; He brings salvation on the earth. It was You who split open the sea by Your power; You broke the heads of the monster in the waters. It was You who crushed the heads of Leviathan and gave it as food to the creatures of the desert. It was You who opened up springs and streams; You dried up the ever-flowing rivers. The day is Yours, and Yours also the night; You established the sun and moon. It was You who set all the boundaries of the earth; You made both summer and winter” (Psalm 74:12-17)
The King David personally acknowledged God as “My King”, teaching us that it’s needful to have revelations of God for ourselves. “My King from long ago.” That’s a history with God. Yet, the history he had with God only remains a portion to describe who God is. Psalm 90:2 declares: “Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” Everlasting to everlasting reveals the endless possibilities of/with God.
While we can be fascinated by the mountains or seas, yet their Creator, our Lord and God outlives them all. So, the psalmist saw and said: “When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” (Psalm 8:3-4). Yes! Everything God has set in nature points us know this God of possibilities and have faith in Him who is mindful and who does care! Father, thank You that You reveal Yourself to us. Thank You for being mindful of us.
