“Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him” (Proverbs 30:5)

The NLT says: “Every word of God is flawless.” Because of its efficacy, we need not add to it as the next verse says: “Do not add to His words, or he may rebuke you and expose you as a liar” (Proverbs 30:6). The light from the word is pure itself for us see God continually in our lives. So, it’s becomes a necessity for us to come with a pure heart, a clear conscience, a right motive (Matthew 5:8). Psalm 36:9 assures: “For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.” We desire this fountain of life Jesus promised His followers (John 10:10) and we can receive as we see through His light. In John 9:1-2, Jesus saw a blind man. His disciples asked: “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” That’s what they could see. It’s either he or his parents sinned. But Jesus said: “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him” (John 9:3). Light!

Are there situations before us that really need God’s light? Our opinion without the light might ruin everything. Joseph stayed and trusted in God’s light despite all that happened around him. He would later say to His brothers: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives” (Genesis 50:20). Light! Jesus promised us that if our eyes (light in our heart) are healthy, our “whole body will be full of light” (Matthew 6:24). To Him we need go for light!
