“I am writing to you who share the same precious faith we have. This faith was given to you because of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ, our God and Saviour. May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord” (2 Peter 1:1-2)

Peter, who described Himself as ‘a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ’, did not mince words when he revealed that we, just like him or the other apostles or believers, share the “same precious faith.” There’s no difference between what he got and what we got. Doesn’t this make us blessed? This faith we received is not common, but precious. 1 Peter 1:18-19 describes its worth this way: “For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.” Are we grateful? Surely, we must be, for this faith was not given because of what we had done, but it “given to you because of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ, our God and Saviour.” This insight releases one attitude in us: humility before Christ. Through a humble attitude, God gives us “more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.” Hallelujah!

So, let’s draw nearer and learn and experience more of Christ’s winning life. Even if there be trials, “through your faith, God is protecting you by His power.” Let’s “be truly glad; there is wonderful joy ahead” (1 Peter 1:5-6). Amen.
