Refreshment & Rest 🌻🌊

“Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven” (Hebrews 8:1)
No one rests until a job is done. “Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices” (Hebrews 10:11). Day after day, again and again. The one who can give rest must have rested himself. Hebrews 10:12 now says: “But when this priest (Jesus) had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God.” This also proves the deity of Jesus. Genesis 2:2 says: “On the seventh day God had finished His work of creation, so He rested from all His work.” The first day that man did witness was a day of rest. God wants us in His rest always. Jesus proclaims: “Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with Mine. Learn My ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear” (Matthew 11:28-30). It all begins by knowing He is our Oasis. No matter how ‘dry’ a life can be, He’s a refreshing oasis! He says we can learn His ways which are hewn in gentleness and humility (fruit of the Spirit).
Father, thank You for raising us up with Christ. Teach us daily to set our hearts on things above, where Christ is (Colossians 3:1) that we may live in His rest. Amen.
