“Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance” (Philippians 1:18-19)

The prayers of the body of Christ are effective. Paul rejoiced about this, even while he was at this time in prison. He also acknowledged how God lavishly supplies the Spirit of Jesus, the excellencies of His grace, which we all need. It was through the prayers of the believers and the Spirit’s supply that brought deliverance to Peter. Acts 11:5 says: “So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.”

James 5:16 does teach us: “Confess and acknowledge how you have offended one another and then pray for one another to be instantly healed, for tremendous power is released through the passionate, heartfelt prayer of a godly believer!” God answers in accordance with His will. “Since we have this confidence, we can also have great boldness before him, for if we ask anything agreeable to His will, He will hear us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we also know that we have obtained the requests we ask of Him” (1 John 5:14-15).

So, may we rid our hearts of grudges or bitterness or offences, giving and seeking forgiveness or reconciliation where the Spirit reminds us. Let’s have faith in God. Let’s come to Him in the plenitude of His mercies, to the throne of His lavish grace, and receive His help, His tremendous power for our land, the lives of others and our lives. “Yes, and I will continue to rejoice.”
