“And Mary sang this song: ‘My soul is ecstatic, overflowing with praises to God! My spirit bursts with joy over my life-giving God!’” (Luke 1:46-47)

The contents of Mary’s song are weighty (Luke 1:46-55). They reveal several truths about God that we must hold onto. She sang: “For He has been mindful of the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed.” God is MINDFUL. He doesn’t forget (Isaiah 49:15). The psalmist wrote: God “humbles Himself to behold the heavens and the earth” (Psalm 113:6). Mary sang: “For the Mighty One has done great things for me—holy is His name.” Because our God is the Holy God, He does great things! He delivered all Israel out of Pharaoh’s ungodly hands. She sang again: “His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation.” His mercies are new every morning! He is “the faithful God who keeps His covenant for a thousand generations” (Deut 7:9). Again, she sang: “He has performed mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.” At Babel where a tower was built (Genesis 11), God resisted their proud minds and scattered them abroad. YET God gives grace (and more grace) to the humble!

Finally, she sang: “He has filled the hungry with good things, but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful, to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as He promised our ancestors.” He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump (Psalm 113). 'JUST AS HE PROMISED.' Mary sang the scriptures! Let’s pick His word and sing it back to Him!
