"They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons, till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the Lord proved him true. The king sent and released him; the ruler of peoples set him free. He made him master of his household, ruler over all he possessed, to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom" (Psalms 105:18-22)
God's timing remains faultless, irrespective of man's shortcomings. Even when men would forget deliberately or otherwise, God's purpose will always prevail. The verses above speak about Joseph. The cupbearer whom Joseph had encouraged "did not remember Joseph; he forgot him" (Genesis 40:23). It might have been a deliberate act by the cupbearer because he later said before Pharaoh, "Today I am reminded of my faults" when the magicians, wisemen, and none in Egypt “could interpret them for him” (Genesis 41:8-9). Sometimes, it may seem you are last option for others, relegated as the last consideration of men, but God may have intended it to be so for His utmost glory!
Galatians 4:4 does say gracefully: "But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law." God sent Jesus when He knew humanity needed Him absolutely. A set time did FULLY come. He sent Jesus when humanity had exhausted all their thoughts/plans for redemption. Now, Jesus sits exalted above all thrones. Those two years Joseph seemed to have lost were the perfecting years for God's glory. Father, teach us to know Your thoughts, trust in Your timing for us and keep a good attitude in all seasons in Jesus name. Amen.
