“Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you’ve got, be resolute, and love without stopping” (1 Corinthians 16:13-14)

There’s not one person on the earth who has no need of love. The NIV says it this way: “Do everything in love.” Everything means everything: from end to end, from the heights to the depths, breadths and lengths, in all facets of life’s decisions and pursuits. ‘Do everything’ means it’s possible. This is true because God’s love is just that way too. Ephesians 3:18-19 says: “And I ask Him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.”

Praise the Lord! God’s commands themselves are His love notes for all humanity. Jesus said: “Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.’ This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’ These two commands are pegs; everything in God’s Law and the Prophets hangs from them.” All God’s laws and commands hang on love for God and others.

So, Hebrews 10:24 urges: “Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshipping together as some do, but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.” Love lifts, love preserves! So, in God’s love, may we love without stopping. Amen.
