“Listen to my testimony: I cried to God in my distress and He answered me. He freed me from all my fears! Gaze upon Him, join your life with His, and joy will come. Your faces will glisten with glory. You’ll never wear that shame-face again” (Psalm 34:4-5)
An encouragement from God’s word is in this: His words therein are not wishful but living words. Hebrews 4:12 says: “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” David testified: “He (God) freed me from all my fears.” This confirms that God never wants us to be afraid. Paul did testify: “Persecutions, sufferings, what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them” (2 Timothy 3:11). Praise the Lord. David again testified: “When I had nothing, desperate and defeated, I cried out to the Lord and He heard me, bringing His miracle-deliverance when I needed it most” (Psalm 34:6). We too have heard, seen and witnessed this truth about God, and He is still the same, yesterday, today and forever!
David said when he prayed, God’s angel was “encircling me, empowering me, and showing me how to escape” (Psalm 34:7). May I be attentive to receive God’s wisdom to know what to do. Oh! “Drink deeply of the pleasures of this God. Experience for yourself the joyous mercies he gives to all who turn to hide themselves in him. Worship in awe and wonder, all you who’ve been made holy! For all who fear Him will feast with plenty” (Psalm 34:8-9). Amen.
