“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn” (Isaiah 60:2-3)

Pure and powerful instructions from the Lord. ARISE! SHINE! Why is this possible? “The glory of the Lord rises upon you.” Why is this thinkable? “The Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you.” The Lord glorified us in Christ, so we can ARISE! SHINE! Romans 8:30 speaks this truth: “And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.” Praise God! ARISE! SHINE!

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 also bears this truth: “The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And our faces are not covered. We all show the Lord’s glory, and we are being changed to be like him. This change in us brings more and more glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” ARISE! SHINE! Jesus surely said: “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14-16) just as He is (John 8:12)! He said as we follow Him, we shall not “walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

Ephesians 5:9 gives us a practical reality of the light saying: “This light produces every kind of goodness, right living, and truth.” Don’t we desire every kind of these blessings? I do! May the glory of the risen Christ continue to fill us. Amen!
