“It was now the first year of the reign of King Darius, the son of Ahasuerus. (Darius was a Mede but became king of the Chaldeans). In that first year of his reign, I, Daniel, learned from the book of Jeremiah the prophet that Jerusalem must lie desolate for seventy years. So, I earnestly pleaded with the Lord God to end our captivity and send us back to our own land” (Daniel 9:1-3)
Darius was now king, most likely upon force, not by succession for He was a Mede. A new king. A new situation. A new challenge. Daniel would seek answers. God knows how to stir our lives! Daniel would learn from being attentive to the scriptures that God had long planned their liberation! There’s a man by the name of Peter J. Daniels, from a disadvantaged background. He had 4 fathers, 2 mothers and 2 alcoholic brothers. Many of his relatives had been in jail. He didn’t excel in school and his schoolteacher always told him he will be nothing. He became a bricklayer and at 26, he was in debt, but everything began to change when he attended a Billy Graham crusade. A spiritual rebirth began. Romans 12:2 says: “Be a new and different person with a fresh newness in all you do and think.” He read about 2,000 biographies. He began to try businesses. Though he failed thrice, yet he didn’t give up. He saw a new man and an end to his captive state. Today, he’s a Christian entrepreneur, best-selling author and recognized public speaker.
God told Joshua: “And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going…” (Joshua 1:8).
