“Give Your love of justice to the king, O God, and righteousness to the king’s son. Help him judge Your people in the right way; let the poor always be treated fairly. May the mountains yield prosperity for all, and may the hills be fruitful. Help him to defend the poor, to rescue the children of the needy, and to crush their oppressors” (Psalm 72:1-4)

The king declared that God loves justice and righteousness. God doesn’t just do them, He loves them, so the king desired them too. Jesus loved them too. Hebrews 1:9 says about Him: “You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, Your God has anointed You, pouring out the oil of joy on You more than on anyone else.” This path of God’s justice and righteousness in our lives and our midst leads into God’s restful peace for all. “May the mountains yield prosperity for all.”

Even nature work for our good. To Abraham, God had this remarkable testimony: “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him” (Genesis 18:17-19). Glory!

We must desire them too. Psalm 89:14-16 says: “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne. Unfailing love and truth walk before You as attendants. Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of Your presence, Lord.”
