Impenetrable Gates?

“Herod… arrested Peter… and imprisoned him, placing him under the guard of sixteen soldiers. Herod’s intention was to deliver Peter to the Jews for execution after the Passover. But earnest prayer was going up to God from the church for his safety all the time he was in prison” (Acts 12:3-5)
The Spirit says that there are places, gates or walls where men in their strength and wisdom cannot access, but He can. Peter was imprisoned and guarded by sixteen soldiers in the inner cells. It was impenetrable to men, but not to God. “Earnest prayer was going up to God from the church for his safety.” With the tapping of the angel sent to Peter to awaken him, “the chains fell off his wrists” (Acts 12:7). Likewise, Esther, though a queen could not access certain ‘gates’ of Susa until she began by prayer. “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king” (Esther 4:16).
Similarly, Nehemiah, the trusted cupbearer to the king, did not access the throne, until he began by prayer: “O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honouring you. Please grant me success today by making the king favourable to me. Put it into his heart to be kind to me” (Nehemiah 1:11). With God, there are no gates before our lives that are impenetrable. “Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty; the Lord, invincible in battle” (Psalm 24:7-8). Amen.
