“Yes, I am the Gate. Those who come in by way of the Gate will be saved and will go in and out and find green pastures. The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness” (John 10:9-10)
May these words of Jesus breed His life, His rest and His peace to/in us in all things. Jesus says: “I am the Gate” or “I am the Door.” What kind of Door is He? Firstly, a Door that leads us into the salvation plan of the Father. Secondly, a Door that guarantees and grants us access into God’s presence where we “find green pastures.” A pasture is everything that life-giving that nourishes and equips us in our walk with Christ the Shepherd. David sang: “Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need! He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams. He gives me new strength. He helps me do what honours him the most” (Psalm 23:1-2). Hallelujah! About the certainty and decisiveness of Jesus as the Door, Revelations 3:7 says: “Write this to Philadelphia, to the Angel of the church. The Holy, the True—David’s key in His hand, opening doors no one can lock, locking doors no one can open….” Since Jesus is the Door, He can shut other ‘doors’ and likewise open ‘doors.’ So, let’s remain in Him and His teachings. Colossians 3:16-17 exhorts us: “Remember what Christ taught, and let His words enrich your lives and make you wise; teach them to each other and sing them out in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing to the Lord with thankful hearts.” Amen.
