“If you, imperfect as you are, know how to lovingly take care of your children and give them what’s best, how much more ready is your heavenly Father to give wonderful gifts to those who ask Him?” (Matthew 7:11)

Everything God does has the stamp of “how much more.” Hallelujah. It’s always better with Him. He’s incomparable and miles ahead of every human standard and best practice. Speaking about the blood of Abel and Jesus, Hebrews 12:24 tells us: “You have come to Jesus, who arranged the new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that promises much better things than does the blood of Abel.” Better things with the blood of Jesus! While the blood of Abel cried out for vengeance, the blood of Jesus cried out for forgiveness and reconciliation. ‘How much more’!

Luke 11:13 gives us an insight into the good and wonderful gifts mentioned in Matthew 7:11. It says: “If imperfect parents know how to lovingly take care of their children and give them what they need, how much more will the perfect heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit’s fullness when His children ask Him.” The Holy Spirit is the Giver. Hence, James 1:17 says: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” How we need to have a daily and growing fellowship with the Holy Spirit!

Father, teach us to know Your love for us, to understand the grace of Jesus and to remain in fellowship with the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14). Amen.
