“And everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in me will be in you and will give you great confidence as you rest in Me. For in this unbelieving world, you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world!” (John 16:33)

Blessed are the words of God! Jesus lived in a perpetual state of peace and harmony. This peace resides within. Even with everything that happened around Him, He was always at peace. What we deeply crave in all our pursuits is peace, the peace that assures of a rest. Now, Jesus says ‘everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in me will be in you.’ So, the teachings of Christ are powerful to bring us His peace! In reality, it was through them that we received an everlasting peace with the Father.

Hallelujah! His peace also gives ‘great confidence’, affirming what God spoke through the prophet Isaiah: “I will make your towers of sparkling rubies, your gates of shining gems, and your walls of precious stones. I will teach all your children, and they will enjoy great peace” (Isaiah 54:12-13). Finally, Isaiah 26:3 says: “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You!”

How do we get such thoughts? From the word of the Lord! Just as Joseph said to Pharaoh “God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace” (Genesis 41:16) which was a word from God, so I say that God will give you an answer of peace in His Word.
