“Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen” (Hebrews 13:20-21)

Preceding the great works mentioned in the verses above which God does in our lives, He is first of all introduced as the “God of peace.” Surely, He is! Ephesians 2:14 says: “For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in His own body on the cross, He broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.” When God reconciled us to Himself, it was His work of peace. Hallelujah! Now, God is doing a peaceful work in our lives. Paul expressed God’s wonderful work when he wrote: “Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again” (1 Thessalonians 5:23). God’s peace can saturate the body, the spirit and the soul. Hallelujah! His peace deals with doubts, fears, divisions, accusations, hostilities and their likes. When Joseph was brought before Pharaoh who had a dream that troubled him, Joseph said to him: “God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace” (Genesis 41:16).

Do you need His peace? The Great Shepherd of the sheep gives peace. In His peace, He will equip for everything good according to His will. In His peace, He will work in us to please Him through Christ. Amen.
