“But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect—life in its fullness until you overflow!” (John 10:10)
What we lost in the garden of Eden was life. What we receive when we come to Jesus is life and "life in its fullness until you overflow." The nature of Jesus is life. He said: “I am the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6). Every word He speaks is full of life. He again said: “The Holy Spirit is the one who gives life, that which is of the natural realm is of no help. The words I speak to you are Spirit and life” (John 6:63).
In John 4, Jesus had a life-changing encounter with a woman. At a point in their dialogue, He said to her: “Go get your husband and bring him here”, but she replied truthfully: “But I am not married.” Then He said: “That’s true, for you’ve been married five times, and now you’re living with a man who is not your husband…” (John 4:16-18). His words did not bring death or condemnation, but rather they brought life because the Word of God records later, as the dialogue ensued, that all at once this woman “left her water jar and ran off to her village and told everyone, ‘Come and meet a man at the well who told me everything I’ve ever done! He could be the One we’ve been waiting for’” (John 4:28-29). Even in conviction, she received life! Truly, we must always go to Jesus, the last Adam, so we may “carry the likeness of the man of heaven," who is “the life-giving Spirit” (1 Corinthians 15:45,49).
