“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3)

If there’s something God has supplied bountifully, it’s the wealth of His spiritual blessings in Christ. Paul writes that we have been ‘BLESSED with EVERY spiritual blessing.’ These blessings are heavenly; no moth, no rust, no thief (Matthew 6:19-20). God gifts both physical and spiritual blessings, yet the latter is by far superior. Sometimes, we are overtaken and drained by the pursuit of physical blessings at the expense of the richer and better spiritual blessings. Have you been in a situation where a new job that brought so much happiness has suddenly become the source of ingratitude because an expectation was not met? Peter inspires us with the better: “You were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18-19). Since we are redeemed with such a blessing, then we can be sustained sufficiently by its outpouring blessings.

Hence, Jesus did say: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). The world with all its possessions will always bring tough times, yet there’s a superior wealth, of conquering peace, that we can receive from Him! This wealth even makes us to be of a good cheer, joyful! Praise God! May grace and peace be multiplied to us in this knowledge of God and Christ. Amen!
