“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess His name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased” (Hebrews 13:15-16)

There are three sacrifices noted above: the sacrifice of praise, to do good and to share with others. We are called us into a life of sacrifice. God shows us how a sacrifice of praise can be an endless feast: “THROUGH JESUS, let us continually offer….” Every time we remember the significance of the eternal purchase of Christ for us, it will lead us into gratitude with praise. 1 Peter 2:10 says: “Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” Because of this, we are now “a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9). A lifestyle of praise reveals to others who our gracious God is. We’re urged to do good. Peter made this remark about Jesus: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with Him” (Acts 10:38). Even when we are hated, Jesus said “do good” (Luke 6:27) because goodness is a light in darkness (Ephesians 5:9). Finally, share with others. Jesus shares a certain glory with us (John 17:22). To share is to lift up. “Share all good things” (Galatians 6:6). These three virtues have one testimony: “For with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
