“It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening, accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, a harp, and the melody of a lyre” (Psalm 92:1-3)

In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Paul wrote to the believers saying: “And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus.” Thanksgiving is God's plan for us and not just a plan but God's perfect plan in Christ Jesus! If it’s perfect, then it's faultless and there's a great gain from it. Thanksgiving urges us to keep our eyes and heart looking for and speaking out the good that God does everywhere and to everyone. This informs us that it protects us from negative feelings and faithlessness around us. No wonder the adversary wants us to complain instead, remembering the things that we do not have or requests that may not have been answered, but thanksgiving strengthens our faith in God because it acknowledges the good that He does continually! So instead, we will “Be ALWAYS giving thanks.” The Psalmist said: “It is GOOD to give thanks to the Lord.”

Thanksgiving (with praises) proclaims God’s unfailing love and faithfulness! David, again, spoke this truth again this way: “Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation” (Psalm 100:3-4). Such is the access by thanksgiving. The more we speak it, the more we see God's love and faithfulness every day.
