"Then the LORD turned to him and said, “Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!” (Judges 6:14)
The Word of God speaks faith over someone's fears. Gideon was in fear, threshing wheat at a winepress, hiding from his adversaries. He earlier said to God's angel: "’Sir, if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? And where are all the miracles our ancestors told us about? Didn’t they say, ‘The LORD brought us up out of Egypt’? But now the LORD has abandoned us and handed us over to the Midianites’” (Judges 6:13). However, in a remarkable response, God did not accommodate or give audience to Gideon’s fears, but He shut it out with the faith-filled response, saying: "Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!” The strength of this statement is not found in "Go with the strength you have." After all Gideon was afraid. The strength is found in these words: "I am sending you!" which means I will be with you. His presence! This was the confidence the disciples of Jesus leaned on. Jesus had said to them (and to us): "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:18-19). And so they went!
God says, do not allow that fear not hinder or immobilize you. The Spirit says arise! Your strength maybe small, but God gives His inestimable strength!
