“Again, I give you an eternal truth: If two of you agree to ask God for something in a symphony of prayer, my heavenly Father will do it for you. For wherever two or three come together in honour of My name, I am right there with them!” (Matthew 18:19-20)

Jesus was teaching about the worth of relationships and unity that our Father likes. Earlier, He taught: “If your fellow believer sins against you, you must go to that one privately and attempt to resolve the matter. If he responds, your relationship is restored” (Matthew 18:15). He gave the steps we ought to follow to restore a broken relationship as long as the person is willing to listen (Matthew 18:16-18). So, it implies we must make these several efforts. God loves it. The psalmist sang about this saying: “How truly wonderful and delightful it is to see brothers and sisters living together in sweet unity!” (Psalm 133:1). The KJV says: “How good and pleasant it is…” This pleasantness is likened to the “sacred scented oil flowing from the head of the high priest Aaron, dripping down upon his beard and running all the way down to the hem of his priestly robes” (Psalm 133:2). That’s a symbol of God’s overflowing presence, power and approval. Again, the psalmist sang: “This harmony can be compared to the dew dripping from Mount Hermon, which flows down upon the hills of Zion” (Psalm 133:3). Again, an overflow of God’s pure grace down upon Zion, His people. The psalmist ends with this: “Indeed, that is where Yahweh has decreed His blessings will be found, the promise of life forevermore!” (Psalm 133:4). Father, help to lay hold of this eternal truth. Amen.
