“We feel a personal responsibility to continually be thanking God for you, our spiritual family, every time we pray. And we have every reason to do so because your faith is growing marvellously beyond measure. The unselfish love each of you share for one another is increasing and overflowing!” (2 Thessalonians 1:3)

Paul expresses amazing joy and offered thankful prayers whenever he hears about the faith of the believers in Jesus Christ and the sacrificial love they had for one another. To the believers in Ephesus, he declared: “Since I first heard about your strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and your tender love toward all His devoted ones, my heart is always full and overflowing with thanks to God for you as I constantly remember you in my prayers” (Ephesians 1:15-16).

To the church in Colossae, he also said: “Every time we pray for you our hearts overflow with thanksgiving to Father God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. For we have heard of your devoted lives of faith in Christ Jesus and your tender love toward all His holy believers” (Colossians 3-4). Faith and love are excellent long-lasting virtues in our journey.

1 Corinthians 13:13 says: “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” Where faith exists, it means there was hope. And how potent is God’s love in us? Colossians 3:14 says: “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

Father, daily stir our faith in Jesus to grow and teach us to walk in His sacrificial love towards one another. Amen.
