“For unto us a child is born; unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder. These will be his royal titles: “Wonderful,” “Counselor,” “The Mighty God,” “The Everlasting Father,” “The Prince of Peace.” His ever-expanding, peaceful government will never end. He will rule with perfect fairness and justice from the throne of His father David. He will bring true justice and peace to all the nations of the world. This is going to happen….” (Isaiah 9:6-7)

Let’s pause at these words and we exult in praises! How needful we must embrace the Son, who is everything, that we will see Him carry the weight/burden of the government (of the world) on His shoulders. Hebrews 1:2 reveals to us saying God “has spoken to us through His Son to whom He has given everything and through whom He made the world and everything there is.” Again, Hebrews 1:3 reveals: “God’s Son shines out with God’s glory, and all that God’s Son is and does marks Him as God. He regulates the universe by the mighty power of His command.” God still regulates the universe and He regulates our lives. Hence, He manifests Himself in many diverse ways: as wonderful, the counsellor, as God, the Father that lasts, the prince of wholesome peace, all through the limitless Son! This is not of human strength or will for “the Lord of heaven’s armies has dedicated Himself to do it!” (Isaiah 9:7)

The Son of the ever-expanding government is the same Son who transforms us by His Spirit “into His image with ever-increasing glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18). “Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame” (Psalm 34:5). Amen.
