“I will teach all your children, and they will enjoy great peace. You will be secure under a government that is just and fair. Your enemies will stay far away. You will live in peace, and terror will not come near” (Isaiah 54:13-14)

How precious and peace-filled are the teachings of the Lord. There’s a peace that comes from the Lord that surpasses human wisdom. Isaiah’s prophecy calls it “great peace.” We receive this peace as we take hold of the Lord’s teachings. Jesus our Lord, confirmed this prophecy when He said: “And everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in Me will be in you and will give you great confidence as you rest in Me. For in this unbelieving world, you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world!” (John 16:33). Praise God! Everything that Jesus taught is powerful to give peace. Not a little peace but “the peace which is in Me” Jesus said. Not only does His teaching give peace, it also brings with it “great confidence.” Hallelujah! Sometimes, people craft in their own wisdom a peace as Jeremiah says: “They offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wound. They give assurances of peace when there is no peace” (Jeremiah 6:14). But there is a life-giving, storm-winning peace from the word of life, through the Holy Spirit, above all human understanding.

Truly as Jesus said: “The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life” (John 6:63). May the words of the Lord speak His peace always and make us vessels of the same peace towards others in Jesus’ name (Genesis 41:16). Amen.
