Come on, everyone! Let’s sing for joy to the Lord! Let’s shout our loudest praises to our God who saved us! Everyone come meet His face with a thankful heart. Don’t hold back your praises; make Him great by your shouts of joy! (Psalm 95:1-2)
“Shout your loudest praises” to the Lord, the psalmist instructs. “Don’t hold back your praises.” Joshua and all Israel hearkened to this obedient call and they would see Jericho’s high and mighty walls crumble, not at the strength of their voices, but by the power in the name of the Lord whom they made great by their shouts of joy! “For the Lord is the greatest of all, King-God over all other gods! In one hand He holds the mysteries of the earth, and in the other He holds the highest mountain peaks” (Psalm 95:3-4). Hallelujah! Our God holds the mountain peaks. The walls of Jericho were little in His eyes. “He’s the owner of every ocean, the Engineer and Sculptor of earth itself!” (Psalm 95:5)
What’s our response? “Come and kneel before this Creator-God; come and bow before the mighty God, our majestic Maker! For we are those He cares for, and He is the God we worship. So drop everything else and listen to His voice!” (Psalm 95:6-7). What does God expect? He said: “Today, when I speak, don’t even think about turning a deaf ear to me like they did when they tested Me at Meribah and Massah, the place where they argued with Me, their Creator” (Psalm 95:8-9). Oh! its needless to challenge the flawless Creator. Instead, we drop everything else and listen to His voice. Jesus assured us: “Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12)!
