“Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear” (Philippians 1:12-14)

Truly, the Word of God says: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). Paul the Apostle was at this moment, imprisoned for the defense of the gospel. Surely, it wasn’t a delightsome situation, yet God used it to bring a visible advancement of the same gospel. Praise the Lord! Paul testified: “What has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.” How was this advancement seen? It left a testimony in the lives of the whole palace guards and everyone around, that it was about Christ. Some might have thought the outcome would affect the faith of the believers, but it was the contrary for “most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.”

We may be going through a situation that presents more questions that answers, but the Lord knows how to bring out glorious things even unto many through such situations. So, let hearts be lifted up at His word and move on because “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6). Amen.
