“And God, who supplies seed for the sower and bread to eat, will also supply you with all the seed you need and will make it grow and produce a rich harvest from your generosity” (2 Corinthians 9:10)

Sometimes, the ‘seeds’ we have and what we do with them can take our focus off the source of the seeds. But, where was man when God created the heavens and the earth, and when God determined the limits of the skies and made the dry ground, and when He filled the seas with life full of fishes, and when the land brought forth herbs and trees of all kinds, and when God planted a well-planted garden in Eden? Where was man? These questions drive us to a realisation of the generous grace of God towards His own creation and quite importantly draws us into an unending lifestyle of thanks giving. The source is Him! Hence, 2 Corinthians 9:10 says it is God “who supplies seed for the farmer….” It starts with Him and in Him. Paul said through the Spirit: “It is through Him that we live and function and have our identity” (Acts 17:28). David likewise sang: “Worship Yahweh with gladness. Sing your way into His presence with joy! And realize what this really means— we have the privilege of worshiping Yahweh our God. For He is our Creator and we belong to Him. We are the people of His pleasure” (Psalms 100:2-3). What does this insight do in us? We first become thankful daily and confident in our Father’s love for us. So, Jesus says: “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him” (Matthew 7:11). Father, we thank You!
