“But even though He was a wonderful Son, He learned to listen and obey through all His sufferings. And after being proven perfect in this way He has now become the source of eternal salvation to all those who listen to him and obey” (Hebrews 5:8-9)
Jesus came into this world as the wonderful Son, but He faced sufferings, for the purpose ahead of Him. Yet, after being proven, He became the SOURCE of eternal salvation! God may allow us to go through certain experiences because He’s preparing a greater weight of glory. Joseph, Jacob’s son, had received dreams from God. Psalm 105:16-17 says: “So God decreed a famine upon Canaan-land, cutting off their food supply. But He had already sent a man ahead of his people to Egypt.” God sent a man yet God’s word says this man “was Joseph, who was sold as a slave. His feet were bruised by strong shackles and his soul was held by iron” (Psalm 105:18). God proved him too. Psalm 105:19 adds: “God’s promise to Joseph purged his character until it was time for his dreams to come true.” Eventually, Joseph was put in charge of everything under the king, “he became the master of the palace over all the royal possessions.” He had “authority over all the princes of the land” and He became “the teacher of wisdom to the king’s advisers” (Psalm 105:21-22). God proves us too. Joseph, like Jesus, “learned to listen and obey through all His sufferings” and God perfected His purpose through Joseph in all Egypt. Romans 8:18 says profoundly: “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Amen.
