“But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost, because a great door for effective work has opened to me, even though many oppose me” (1 Corinthians 16:8-9)

Truly God’s word says: “I know your deeds, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed My word and did not deny Me” (Revelations 3:8). Our strength might be small, yet God sees the things we do, and He surely opens effectual doors, doors that no one can close. This is for the Lord’s glory “to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). God knows how to open doors even when they are considered shut. In Ruth 1:6, the word of God says: “When Naomi heard in Moab that the LORD had come to the aid of his people by providing food for them, she and her daughters-in-law prepared to return home from there.”

Paul declared God opened for him a great door for effective work. Effective means ‘productive, able to bring desired results.’ Even through the opposers were many, yet they advanced because God supplied the grace that made their work in Ephesus to become impactful. This also means God Himself supplied the partnerships and the resources to excel His work. Jesus surely said: “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture” (John 10:9). So, let us strengthen our limp hands and weak knees and make straight paths for our feet (Hebrews 12:12). God opens doors!
