ā€œThe way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church: every part dependent on every other part, the parts we mention and the parts we don’t, the parts we see and the parts we don’t. If one part hurts, every other part is involved in the hurt, and in the healing. If one part flourishes, every other part enters into the exuberanceā€ (1 Corinthians 12:25-26)

Newsflash: You are significant in Christ! This is the way God (not a man) designed it. First, God made us alive when He raised us up with Christ. ā€œHe did all this on His own, with no help from us! Then He picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiahā€ (Ephesians 2:6). Seated with Jesus is a significant place of influence; salt and light! This means there’s no room for being idle or distant in God’s wise scheme for His body. His body is ā€œnot a gigantic, unidimensional partā€ (1 Corinthians 12:30). That would be a show-off. Everyone’s part surely isn’t the same, but it remains significant working with other parts. So, accept your part. Paul wrote: ā€œI want you to think about how all this makes you more significant, not lessā€ (1 Corinthians 12:14).

What does all this understanding do for us? It makes us humble! ā€œI also want you to think about how this keeps your significance from getting blown up into self-importanceā€ (1 Corinthians 12:19). And when we are humble, we enjoy more and more of God’s grace! We’re involved in each other’s hurt and when one part flourishes, every other flourishes too! This is God’s blessed wisdom for us!
