“The One who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The One who comes from heaven is above all” (John 3:31)

We’ve been graciously brought into a higher life, an abundant life that comes from above, an overflowing life that Jesus gives. John wrote twice that Jesus who came from above (heaven) is above all. He’s superior to any being from anywhere. John again declared that Jesus testified to “what He has seen and heard.” This means everything He said is certain and truthful. So, whoever has accepted His testimony “has certified that God is truthful, for the One whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit” (John 3:32-33). As we are joined to Christ, we come into this realm where God gives the Holy Spirit without limit. Hence, Jesus declared: “Let anyone who is thirsty come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.’ By this He meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive” (John 7:37-39). Paul likewise said: “Be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18).

What a glorious access granted to us. “God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6). This realm where Christ is seated is “far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come” (Ephesians 1:21). Hallelujah! Father, open our eyes to behold the wondrous things You’ve freely given us. Amen.
