“In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life” (2 Corinthians 2:14-16)

God has delighted to make us a fragrance in Christ everywhere we go. We just cannot think of ourselves any less than God thinks of us. Jesus Himself was a fragrance while on earth. Acts 10:38 says: “Then Jesus arrived from Nazareth, anointed by God with the Holy Spirit, ready for action. He went through the country helping people and healing everyone who was beaten down by the Devil. He was able to do all this because God was with him.” He brought the news to man that was called GOOD!

Now, God too “leads us from place to place” in victory, in a fragrance. This fragrance is expressed when God “brings the knowledge of Christ” through us to others. Paul adds by saying: “Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God.” Now, not everyone will like our fragrance. Paul wrote that “those on the way to destruction treat us more like the stench from a rotting corpse.”

Nevertheless, this fragrance is life-giving! John 1:4-5 says it this way: “What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by. The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out.” A sweet aroma!
