“Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked. The name of the righteous is used in blessings” (Proverbs 10:7)
Awesome! There are so many virtues from desiring to walk and live righteously before the Lord. One of such virtues is the name of the righteous being a blessing. The King James says: “The memory of the righteous is blessed.” All over God’s word, these Proverbs are affirmed as true. The Bible says to us about Abraham. “And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you” (Galatians 3:29). God had said to Abraham: “And through your offspring all nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice” (Genesis 22:18). The memory of his name attracts blessings.
About Christ, the word surely affirms: “Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name above all names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11). God did this for Hebrews 1:9 says about Jesus: “You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You above Your companions with the oil of joy.”
Our names too can be mentioned for good, and they serve to bring Christ’s blessings to others. Father, help us to walk as Jesus walked, learning to do what is right, what is fair and what is true for Your glory. Amen.
