“When you continue to embrace all that I teach, you prove that you are My true followers. For if you embrace the truth, it will release true freedom into your lives’” (John 8:31-32)

Jesus promises everyone who believes in Him that if they embrace His teachings, it will release true freedom for their lives. This must encourage to us to follow Him and know His teachings, which He calls truth. We need more and more truth in our lives to enjoy this freedom. John 1:17b says: “Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” We all need God’s grace. In fact, we were saved by it yet grace and truth work together. The Passion Translation says John 1:17b this way: “Jesus, the Anointed One, unveils truth wrapped in tender mercy.” Truth leads us in freedom’s direction and grace gifts us the enablement to get there!

The Holy Spirit wrote through John this way: “Grace, mercy, and peace, which come from God the Father and from Jesus Christ… will continue to be with us who live in truth and love” (2 John 1:3). To enjoy His grace, His mercy and His peace – His freedom – we need to live in His truth and His love. No wonder did David affirm: “I know that You (Lord) delight to set Your truth deep in my spirit. So come into the hidden places of my heart and teach me wisdom” (Psalm 51:6). Truth is a light and it is “full of energy, like a two-mouthed sword. It will even penetrate to the very core of our being…” (Hebrews 4:12). Oh Father, I desire Your truth to interpret and reveal the thoughts of my heart unto Your wisdom, so I can live in Your true freedom! Amen!
