“Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so… because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent” (Daniel 6:3-4)

Such a renown and remarkable testimony about the man, Daniel. May we desire to attain such a noble report, where even cruel men can’t bring a charge against us to the glory of God. Three wonderful qualities describe the excellence of Daniel’s work. Chief of all, he was trustworthy. Jesus said this plainly about trustworthiness: “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” Again, He said: “And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why should you be trusted with things of your own?” (Luke 16:10,12). Trustworthiness implies people can sleep or travel afar and be at peace, because they know you are over their affairs.

Secondly, Daniel wasn’t corrupt. Proverbs 17:23 says: “The wicked accept bribes in secret to pervert the course of justice.” Daniel did not accuse anyone for a gain, nor did you use his position for his fame. Proverbs 11:1 also says "Dishonest scales are an abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is His delight.”

Thirdly, Daniel wasn’t negligent. He discharged his duties completely. Truly “Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand in the presence of kings…” (Proverbs 22:29). Which quality (ies) do we need to strengthen? May the Lord teach us to do right for His glory!
